Jude Cogdon's free-kick fired the Toon teenagers at the Magpies' Little Benton Academy into a first-half lead before a dramatic finale unfollowed as Forest drew level in stoppage-time following Spencer Sutton's strike.

Newcastle's youngsters, however, regained their lead in the dying stages courtesy of O'Donovan's effort as Chris Moore's side returned to winning ways, moving into fifth place of the table in the process.

The young Magpies return to league action on Saturday, 1st November when hosting their Everton counterparts at the Magpies' Little Benton Academy (kick-off 12:30pm GMT).
