Neymar's hometown legacy looks set for another chapter after the Brazilian star closes on a contract extension with boyhood club Santos.

Per the Athletic, the 33-year-old is nearing new terms that will see him remain at Vila Belmiro until December of this year, rewarding his efforts in helping the club remain in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A.
The former prodigy returned to the club of his youth for the 2025 season after a torrid two-year spell with Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal, ending the campaign in a flurry that saw him hit 11 goals in 28 appearances across all competitions, eight of which came in the Brasileirão.

Though his return home was also marred with fitness concerns throughout the recent season, Neymar could also be lining up one final swan song with the Seleção after Carlo Ancelotti refused to rule out selecting him for Brazil's 2026 World Cup squad.
Neymar's influence on the beautiful game both at home and abroad remains undeniable as the all-time top scorer for Brazil (79 goals) while starring for Santos, Barcelona, and PSG across a career that has seen him make nearly combined appearances while hitting nearly 450 goals for club and country.
