Neymar is following an intensive programme to recover from a right calf injury during Brazil’s World Cup build-up, using a NASA-designed anti-gravity treadmill to cut impact. According to Diario Do Peixe, the Santos No 10 used the device on Saturday, the seventh.
Since reporting to the national team on the 27th, he has worked across three daily blocks, including physiotherapy, strength work, controlled loads in the gym and calf-specific recovery. He has adhered to medical guidance at Granja Comary and in the United States, where Brazil are based.
The treadmill uses an inflatable chamber around the waist to adjust the percentage of body weight borne by the legs. That lets medics tailor workload to his progress, enabling walking and running with reduced risk to the affected muscle.
A new MRI is set for Monday, the eighth, to assess healing of the grade two injury suffered with Santos against Coritiba in the Campeonato Brasileiro. If the scan satisfies the CBF’s medical staff, Neymar could start on-grass and transition work on Tuesday, the ninth.
Sessions would build progressively with controlled intensity before any return to ball work with the group. He has been held out of the warm-up friendlies as a precaution, with early clearance viewed as a risk.
The CBF still expect to have Neymar in the World Cup group stage. The most optimistic scenario has him available for the opener against Morocco on 13 June, while a conservative view points to a return against Haiti or Scotland.
