In the last 48 hours, it has been confirmed that Nico Paz will not be returning to Real Madrid, despite his buy-back clause being activated. An agreement was subsequently reached for Como to immediately re-sign him for €60m, thus meaning that Los Blancos have made an instant €51m profit on the 21-year-old Argentine.

As part of the new agreement, Real Madrid have also retained another buy-back clause, valued at €80m, which will be active next summer. The deal has worked out for everyone, as made clear by Pablo Paz, Nico’s father, when he spoke to Flashscore (via MD).

“It has been a difficult decision because Real Madrid wanted him very much, but the Whites also considered that another season in Italy, with the possibility of playing in the Champions League, would be the best option for their growth. If the buy-back clause is exercised, he will be able to return to Real Madrid in the future.

“There are still some details to be defined and adjusted, such as the price. Nico is happy because in Como he is very well and feels very valued. It is the best choice for his son, he is very comfortable in Italy. He has been received in the best way and they treat him with great affection in all aspects. The human side is also very important and that makes him calm.”

Real Madrid already planning to re-sign Paz in 2027

In the days after the new agreement between Real Madrid and Como was revealed, speculation on Paz’s future has continued. According to one report, Bernabeu offices are already planning for the Argentina international’s buy-back clause to be activated next summer, which would definitely return him to the Spanish capital.

Real Madrid believe Paz is already valued above €80m, and should his development continue after another season at Como, it would make even more sense in their eyes to bring him back in 2027.
