Wolves could have an opening to sign long-term target Nico Raskin, who is reported to intend leaving Rangers this summer.

TEAMtalk reports that Raskin has informed Rangers he wants to depart in this window. He is on duty with Belgium at the World Cup and is attracting heavy interest across Europe. The report adds Rangers have not yet received enquiries.

Relegated to the Championship, Wolves are undertaking a major rebuild. Two new signings and a new manager are already in place, while Matt Doherty is the only senior departure so far. Promotion at the first attempt is the aim, so recruitment is vital.

The report also notes Wolves are among the clubs to have monitored Raskin. He was linked last summer, with Matt Hobbs then an admirer, and Hobbs’s new club Crystal Palace have scouted him. Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Leeds United, Aston Villa and Brighton have made checks, with Porto, Real Betis and Besiktas also interested.

Rangers are thought to want around £20 million, a steep outlay for a relegated side. Whether Wolves could or would meet that sum is doubtful, though Joao Gomes is set to leave and his sale could help fund a move. The Championship is a comparable level to the Scottish Premiership, yet Raskin may prefer top-flight football, although Wolves have already recruited Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez, so a switch cannot be ruled out.
