Nico Williams pubalgia concern prompts search for new solutions | OneFootball

Nico Williams is struggling with pubalgia, a growing concern for the international winger, Ernesto Valverde and his club. The problem persists and new avenues are being explored.

According to AS, he kept trying in the derby against Real Sociedad but could not fully free himself. Valverde has managed his minutes, with only late minutes at the Pizjuán against Sevilla, and he was left out of the Champions meeting with Sporting de Portugal.

After the derby, team-mate Unai Simón said they ask wingers to keep trying. He noted they are used to Nico beating his man eight out of 10, now about three, yet he still creates danger and chances. He added they believe in him completely and he never shirks.

He has already undergone several conservative treatments, some outside the club, to ease a condition that flares and subsides, but it has reduced his usual performance.

At this stage a short competitive pause of a few weeks is being considered to apply specific methods and avoid further load, in search of better results. Surgery is, for now, ruled out. Alarms have been raised at the start of the second half of the season, with the World Cup looming for Nico Williams.
