No Bowen reunion for Moyes as winger signs new West Ham deal | OneFootball

It's time to tick another one off the silly season rumour mill list, with Jarrod Bowen set to stay at West Ham this summer.

Bowen had been regularly linked with Everton following West Ham's relegation from the Premier League, in a transfer that would have offered a reunion with ex-Hammers' boss David Moyes.

With Everton needing to fill a problem position on the right-wing, and Bowen providing a goal threat that was badly lacking in a blue shirt last season, it seemed (to the papers at least) an obvious deal.

Several sources (and I use that term loosely) claimed in recent weeks that the Toffees had made 'an approach', while West Ham's rumoured interest in Dwight McNeil added further fuel to the fire.

However, recent rumours around Jacob Murphy suggested Bowen might be out of reach, and The Athletic have now confirmed he's set to stay closer to the Dyer household in the capital.

The 29-year-old has signed a 'revised deal' at the London Stadium that ensures he'll be part of the Championship promotion push.

A financial sweetener, if ever we've seen one.

Not bothered about this to be fair. However, think it’s a bad decision by the player to stay and play in the championship. Football careers are short, you should play as much time at the top as you can. There is no loyalty in football anymore so deciding to stay ‘loyal’ to the club is a daft and blinkered decision. It will also probably cost him chances of playing for England, Enjoy the trips to Grimsby.

Shaun, we can't criticise players for a lack of loyalty and then call him out for this decision.

If some players of this calibre made the same decision the gap between the PL and the rest may shrink.

To be fair Andrew probably a lot of the relegated players are moved on by their clubs because of high wages and they can also command a higher transfer fee.

So to see a player take a wage reduction to stay with the team is good for both parties.

Good for him. If he brings West Ham back to the prem he’ll never have to buy a drink in East Lahnan again. I like the guy.

When you think of the players that West Ham had in their cup winning team as a 2nd division team it's sad that could probably never happen again.
