Enzo Maresca has once again reiterated youngster Marc Guiu will get minutes for Chelsea this season, despite being yet to feature.
Guiu was sent on loan to Sunderland, but was recalled after Liam Delap suffered a hamstring injury at the end of August, which is set to keep him out until November.
However, Guiu has yet to feature despite being named on the bench on several occasions, with Maresca preferring to go with Tyrique George.
Joao Pedro is reportedly playing through the pain barrier, which makes Guiu’s lack of minutes even more surprising.
If Guiu plays for Chelsea it means he can’t be sent on loan or sold in January as you can’t play for more than two clubs in the same season.

There had been reports suggesting he hadn’t been used so he could be sent on loan in January, but Maresca has once again reiterated he will get minutes.
“Again, he’s going to get minutes with us, no doubt,” Maresca told his pre-match press conference.
“And also for me, the development of a young player is not just about the game when you are so young.
“It’s also about the training session and the day-by-day. And I think it’s important that he’s with us and he’s working with us.”
Whilst Guiu is yet to feature, it looks like his future lies away from Chelsea with the Blues confirming the signing of Emanuel Emegha on pre agreement for 2026.

Emegha has penned a seven year deal at Stamford Bridge, and is due to join next summer, although some reports have suggested he could arrive in January.
The 22-year-old scored 14 goals in Ligue 1 last season, and is a unique profile given his 6ft 5″ frame, but he’s also blessed with pace and was the quickest player in the French top flight last season.
