Jamal Musiala is working toward his comeback with FC Bayern following his latest foot surgery. While his teammates will be attending two training camps in the coming weeks, the national team player will remain in Munich. His individualized rehab plan certainly raises some questions—but should benefit the Munich club in the long run.

FC Bayern’s first training session took place last Monday without Jamal Musiala. The 23-year-old is still in rehabilitation training after undergoing another operation on his injured foot immediately following Germany’s World Cup exit.

A clear roadmap has now been established for the attacking player, designed to get him back in shape in time for the start of the competitive season.

Bayern is focusing on individualized preparation

As reported by *kicker*, Musiala is set to resume individual training on the practice field starting July 31. While the rest of the team will first head to a training camp at Lake Tegernsee and then embark on a tour of Asia to South Korea and Hong Kong, the star attacker will remain at Säbener Straße.

There, Musiala will complete his personalized rehabilitation program under the supervision of the medical team. Only after the team returns on August 8 will he be gradually reintegrated into team training.

This approach was a deliberate decision. According to information from the trade magazine, Musiala, together with coach Vincent Kompany, decided to have the metal plate in his injured foot removed immediately after the World Cup. The procedure would have been necessary anyway; now the goal is to prevent a prolonged forced absence during the current season.

Super Cup as the First Major Goal

Musiala’s injury has now plagued him for over a year. The attacking player suffered a serious foot injury in the Club World Cup quarterfinal against Paris Saint-Germain. Although he fought his way back several times, he was repeatedly held back by discomfort and never fully regained his top form leading up to the World Cup.

Now, as reported by the tz, FC Bayern is taking a long-term approach and does not want to take any unnecessary risks. If his rehabilitation goes as planned, Musiala could resume full training with the team after the trip to Asia.

The first major goal is the DFL Super Cup on August 22 against Borussia Dortmund. A week later, the record champions will kick off the new Bundesliga season with a home game against VfB Stuttgart.
