Noah Okafor misses Switzerland friendly after calf setback, named in World Cup squad | OneFootball

Leeds United winger Noah Okafor has been left out of Switzerland’s 1.30pm friendly against Jordan as he manages a calf problem, despite his inclusion in Murat Yakin’s World Cup squad.

The Swiss national team said on Saturday that Okafor remains sidelined with a calf issue and will not feature in St Gallen. It added that Yakin is not concerned about his long-term availability.

Okafor earned a recall in March on the back of strong Leeds form. He was an unused substitute in the 4-3 defeat to Germany, then omitted from the squad for the 0-0 draw in Norway.

He finished the club season in fine form before a calf injury ruled him out of Leeds’ final three Premier League matches.

Switzerland also face Austria in the coming days as part of their final preparations for the summer tournament.

For the Jordan game, Gregor Kobel is rested after flu, so Yvon Mvogo starts. The plan is for third-choice Marvin Keller to come on at half-time for a debut, while Fabian Rieder is out with an ankle problem.
