Arsenal winger Noni Madueke is undergoing scans after injuring his knee during Sunday’s draw with Manchester City.

Madueke was seen holding his right knee towards the end of the first half of the game at the Emirates Stadium and was replaced at the break by Bukayo Saka.

He is being assessed on Monday and will have his right knee scanned, with an update expected on Tuesday during Mikel Arteta’s next press conference.

Arsenal will be praying for good news on Madueke, as he has been in excellent form since joining from Chelsea in the summer.

The 23-year-old has stepped up during the opening weeks of the season, when Saka has been out with a hamstring injury.

Madueke has also caught the eye for England and scored his first goal at senior international level during the 5-0 win over Serbia earlier this month.

Arsenal have already been hit hard by injuries this season, with Kai Havertz undergoing surgery to solve a knee issue last month.

Saka has just returned after missing four weeks with a hamstring injury, but captain Martin Odegaard is on the sidelines again after quickly aggravating a shoulder problem that was first picked up in August.

William Saliba sprained his ankle in the defeat at Liverpool last month, though returned to action swiftly.

Arsenal are next in action on Wednesday night, when they travel to face League One side Port Vale in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Arteta is holding a press conference ahead of the game late on Tuesday afternoon and will be expected to provide an update on Madueke then.

There should also be the latest on the fitness of Odegaard, who was not in the squad for the draw with Manchester City.

Arsenal are expected to make changes for the trip to Port Vale, with Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly both due to come into the team.

Summer signing Christian Norgaard could also make his first start, while goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga may be handed his debut.

Fellow newcomer Piero Hincapie will hope to feature from the off for the first time, but was left out of the squad at the weekend.
