Having celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024, the Norway and Denmark Official Supporters Club have continued to raise and donate thousands of pounds to several causes connected to Manchester City.
The branch, led by General Secretary Tor Sonsteby, arrange regular fundraising events and raffles for their 2100 members. Since September, the branch has donated a total £20k to City in the Community, made up of two £10k donations submitted in the early months of the season.
As part of a fundraising collective to which all Official Supporters Club branches contributed to the Norway and Denmark branch have also collected over £3k via their memberships.
It isn’t just City in the Community that have benefited from the Scandinavian branch’s generosity. So far this season, £2k has been raised for City’s Former Player Association with a donation to be paid at the end of the season. In August, Local non-league outfit Maine Road FC were also provided with a cheque for £3k.
Speaking to Tor, who has been involved in the branch since 1978, said ‘Our branch takes pride in giving something back to CITC, Former Players Association and Maine Road FC, it is all down to working together as a unit and this shows how important OSC membership is for our members and the benefit it gives us all if we work together.’
Following years of charitable support, City in the Community CEO, Mike Geary, said ‘City in the Community has been empowering healthier lives through football for over 38 years, and we've had some incredible fan support along the way.
"We're incredibly grateful to the Norway and Denmark OSC for their generous and proactive fundraising. Their passion for Manchester City extends beyond the pitch, making a real difference to the lives of people across Greater Manchester.
"I'd like express my sincere thanks to Tor and the whole group for their support and we look forward to continuing this special relationship in the coming seasons.’
