A new saga between Bristol City and Norwich City appears to be developing.

Bristol City director Jon Lansdown hasn't shut the door on coaches Chris Hogg and James Krause remaining at Ashton Gate, dealing a potential blow to Norwich City's Liam Manning reunion plans.

Ever since Manning's appointment at Carrow Road was confirmed, the expectation has been that he would be joined by Hogg and Krause - two of his backroom team members from his time with the Robins.

However, the pair have yet to make the move to Norfolk, which has left both sets of supporters wondering when and if they will indeed take up their presumed new roles with the Canaries.

Speaking in an interview via PinkUn, Bristol City director Jon Lansdown has confirmed that new Robins boss Gerhard Struber will be afforded the opportunity to assess Hogg and Krause, before making any decisions on their Ashton Gate futures.

He said: "They're still employed by the football club as we stand. So it's up to Gerhard to come in and get to know his staff.

"It's the same as the players; he'll work out if there's anywhere that needs improvement."

PinkUn's report claims that Norwich City remain confident that both Hogg and Krause will eventually complete moves to the club, with the belief that they'll be in their new roles at Carrow Road for the beginning of pre-season towards the end of the month.

Until then, the Canaries must now enact patience, unless of course they decide to trigger the pair's release clauses in their respective Bristol City contracts.

Often when a manager changes clubs, their backroom staff follow them immediately wherever they go.

That hasn't been the case for Manning at Norwich City, not for a lack of trying though from the Canaries.

However, with Bristol City's appointment of Struber now in place, the Robins hierarchy appears willing to allow their new boss to run the rule over Manning's previous backroom team, and make any changes where he sees fit.

As such, this has the potential to swiftly rectify, or indeed complicate matters further. If the 48-year-old doesn't want Hogg and Krause to form part of his new coaching team, then it would appear that Norwich would be able to simply come and get them out of Ashton Gate.

Should Struber like what he sees in Hogg and Krause, however, he may well decide he wants them to remain with him as part of his Robins coaching staff.

In that case, it would remain to be seen whether either one, if not both of them, would want to stay at Bristol City, or if they are set on reuniting with Manning at Carrow Road regardless.

Either way, it seems as though Struber holds the vast majority of the cards in this situation, and will potentially determine whether Hogg and Krause stay or leave Bristol City this summer.

A fascinating few days await...
