Norwich could be set to miss out on the opportunity to sign Leeds winger Largie Ramazani this summer

A new wideman is atop the transfer wishlist this summer for Norwich City, but they may be set to lose out on one of their targets.

Norwich were one of the top Championship sides during the second half of the campaign under Philippe Clement. In 2026, only Southampton picked up more points than the Canaries, who collected 44 in 22 games.

Indeed, if not for a disastrous start to the year under Liam Manning, in which they were second bottom before Clement arrived in mid-November, Norwich would have easily made a return to the play-offs this season.

Now, though, the Canaries are set to embark on their fifth straight second-tier campaign, the longest they've spent in the division since a nine-year stay between 1995 and 2004, but there's optimism that, with a strong transfer window, they could make a Premier League return.

Norwich City may lose out on Largie Ramazani as Valencia accelerates talks for Leeds United winger

Norwich were looking at bringing former Championship title-winning winger Largie Ramazani to Carrow Road this summer to help bolster their wide options amidst what many neutrals expect to be a promotion-challenging campaign for Philippe Clement's side.

The Belgian has struggled for gametime back in England ever since the former Manchester United youngster made the €11 million switch to the Whites from Almeria in the summer of 2024.

Ramazani played fewer than 800 minutes in Leeds' title-winning side, failing to start a league game at all in the second half of the campaign. Despite that, he still ended the term with six goals and a couple of assists. With more time on the pitch, many believe he could be the 10 to 15-goal-a-season winger that top two-chasing sides crave.

The 25-year-old has spent the past year on loan at Valencia, where he also struggled in large parts for starts in La Liga. But the 11 he made all came consecutively between February and May, the period where Carlos Corberan's side shot up the table, having been threatened by relegation. Again, he ended the campaign with six goals.

Norwich were always going to be battling with Los Murcielagos this summer for Ramazani's signature on a permanent deal, as the Belgian doesn't look to be in Daniel Farke's plans, and, according to Tribuna Deportiva, it may be a battle that the Canaries will lose.

Valencia CEO Ron Gourlay has reportedly travelled to England to advance some transfers, one of which is with Leeds over the switch of Ramazani.

With the Whites reportedly holding out for a £10 million fee to balance what they spent on the Belgian in the first place, according to the Pink Un, it looks like the Spanish top-flight side will have more financial backing behind them to get a deal done, compared to Norwich.

Norwich City will feel disappointed at new Largie Ramazani revelation

With how electric Ramazani proved to be in short bursts during his one prior season in the Championship, a move for the wideman would have gotten Norwich fans excited.

But, it looks as if the 25-year-old could be continuing his career in the top-flight for a Valencia side who will have a return to European football in their sights after a few difficult years battling relegation or languishing in mid-table.

Meanwhile, the Canaries will look to pivot elsewhere. Reports towards the end of May linked Frosinone's Fares Ghedjems, Lille's Ichem Ferrah and Charlotte FC's Liel Abada with a move to Carrow Road, so it's not like Philippe Clement was putting all of his eggs in the Ramazani basket.

And, with the success that Norwich had with their arrivals back in January in the Belgian's first window as head coach, with the likes of Mohamed Toure, Paris Maghoma and Ali Ahmed all looking very promising, there'll be optimism that whoever does come in as the new winger will hit the ground running.

The Pink Un went on to state that the Canaries are willing to commit a "significant fee" for a right-sided wideman this summer, so they're still primed to make a splash to improve their attacking output.

But, right now, it doesn't seem like Ramazani will be the man for Norwich.
