Nottingham Forest have appointed Oliver Glasner as head coach on a three-year contract after sacking Pereira. The club confirmed the former Crystal Palace boss will take charge at the City Ground, having left at the end of last season.
Owner Evangelos Marinakis was praised for pulling off a major coup, with pundits Jason Cundy and Jamie O’Hara describing the swift move as a masterstroke and an impressive piece of business.
Glasner arrives as a free agent after a successful two-year spell at Palace, where he won three trophies. His side lifted the FA Cup, the UEFA Conference League and the FA Community Shield, securing the club’s first major trophy.
He drew interest from Manchester United and AC Milan but opted for Forest. Cundy suggested the switch fits because Forest are a massive club with greater expectations and stature than Crystal Palace.
Glasner replaces Pereira, who kept Forest in the Premier League and reached the Europa League semi-finals last season. His arrival makes him the club’s fifth head coach in 12 months.
He will link up with his players later this month when they return for pre-season training. He will take charge for the first time when Forest face neighbours Notts County at Meadow Lane on July 18.
