According to NY Times, Nottingham Forest are confident of signing Gustavo Sa from Famalicao. The 21-year-old could join sister club Olympiacos on loan once the deal is completed.

A fee of around €20 million (£17.1m) is expected to be agreed with the Primeira Liga side for the Portugal under-21 international. He would be Forest’s second summer arrival after Xaver Schlager joined from RB Leipzig on a free transfer.

Sa has made 120 appearances and scored 11 goals for Famalicao, having come through Porto’s youth system. He has 15 under-21 caps with two goals and is regarded as a player of promise in Portugal.

In April he broke Joao Moutinho’s record as the youngest to reach 100 Portuguese top-flight games, at 21 years, three months and four days. A stint in Greece could offer regular minutes alongside compatriot Jota Silva, who is on loan in Athens from Forest.

Sa operates mainly in the No 10 role, an area where Forest have depth. Morgan Gibbs-White was a key figure last season with 15 goals, and Oliver Glasner views James McAtee as progressing in a system that uses two No 10s. Igor Jesus, Omari Hutchinson and Arnaud Kalimuendo are also competing for those spots.
