Eddie Howe finally gets his man, almost a year since the first offer went in back in August 2024.

Interesting to see how Nottingham Forest fans are reacting…

As you can see below, a very varied range of views from Nottingham Forest fans.

Nottingham Forest fans commenting via their LTLF message board on confirmation of Newcastle United signing Anthony Elanga:

‘Can’t wish the lad luck as he’s moving to a rival, but I’ve very much enjoyed watching Elanga run and develop into a real threat…

His progress has been superb for us when you consider those early games where his feet seemed quicker than his brain.

I maintain he’s going right to the top as a striker later in his career once the afterburners start to fail.

You’re welcome back any time Tony.’

‘A shame, elanga is still improving each season , good luck to the lad.’

‘How do we know that Elanga didn’t push for this move? Surely that’s more logical than us voluntarily selling him which knowing about MGWs release clause.

Not that I’d really blame him if he did. CL/more money etc.’

‘Just seen Elanga’s message to Forest fans.

Meh.’

‘Thought it was OK, seemed to be genuone and he’s a decent chap, not been looking too much as can’t abide by hearing him espouse complete bs about wanting to join the league cup winners.

Suppose of they did it honestly for once and said basically “Me agents have only got a few of these pay days left and Newcastle was probably the best payer in the market at this time, soz Forest being a millionaire ain’t enough I need multiple millions to feed all me parasites”.’

‘It’s not going to seem right seeing him kiss Newcastle’s Adidas logo next season’

‘Absolute elite athlete the benchmark for other players. My boys first game was villa last season where AE scored that winner, no hard feelings with him just extremely frustrated we’ve let him go, he will only get better…’

‘My lad loves Elanga and MGW.

He’s very upset.

Doesn’t understand yet that players aren’t fans and we love the club and players and it’s a job to them.’

‘My lad literally cried himself to sleep last night after I told him about the two sales just before bedtime. He was beside himself and the wife was unimpressed with my parenting decisions.’

‘I’m pretty confident that had Forest had even an inkling of what MGW was about to do they would not have allowed Elanga anywhere near Newcastle and as a result he would have happily stayed.

The club felt they had a good offer – And they should know better whether it is ‘good’ than any of us – And probably told Elanga they didn’t want to sell him but he could talk to Newcastle and make his own mind up because we are not inhuman enough to make him stay and deny him a chance of Champions League football. If Newcastle threw a huge amount of cash on the table then as a professional footballer who is one injury away from losing his career he’d be a fool not to take it even if he loved Forest to bits. Can’t blame him.

Sickening but we will have to accept things like this for a long time to come.

Gibbs White on the other hand is an entirely different matter.’

‘Good player for us. Obviously wanted out. Good luck now to him – now move on Forest, we got a job to do.’

‘I mean, it isn’t like it’s a surprise. Still didn’t like seeing him in a Newcastle shirt! Ah well, onwards and hopefully upwards.’

‘Mag tw.t’

‘Oh dear, just told me little girl who absolutely adores him and she’s in complete floods of tears.’

‘So long Tony. Great character and gave us some great memories. I’ve not a bad word to say about the deal.’

‘I’ll miss him. Was so much fun watching him burn past players.

And he was getting better and better as a footballer as he developed.

Gutted he’s gone and find it difficult not to wish him well.’

‘Shame. Really liked him as a player and a man. i don’t wish him any ill will, but I don’t care about any other team than ours, so it’s hard for me to wish him luck.’

‘I don’t wish him all the best, I hate that phrase. He is playing for someone else we are competing with, I hope he turns into a garbage player and he ruins his career.

That doesn’t mean it wasn’t a pleasure to watch him in a Forest shirt though, he is the fastest player over 10 yards I have ever seen. Elanga is one of the good guys.’
