Nottingham Forest have reached a verbal agreement to sign Bologna winger Dan Ndoye for a club record fee.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Forest will pay €40 million plus add-ons. Ndoye is expected to travel to England within the next 24 hours to undergo a medical.
The 24-year-old will replace Anthony Elanga, who joined Newcastle United for £52m this summer.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis pushed to secure a marquee addition to strengthen Nuno Espirito Santo’s attack ahead of their return to European competition for the first time in 30 years.
Ndoye has been on Forest’s radar since mid-July, with talks accelerating after Napoli withdrew from the race due to Bologna’s valuation.
The Serie A club was unwilling to match Premier League offers, leaving Forest in pole position.
Personal terms are not expected to be an obstacle, and Ndoye has already indicated his preference for a move to England.
He scored nine goals and registered six assists across 41 matches for Bologna last season, including the decisive strike in the Coppa Italia final against AC Milan.
Since joining Bologna from Basel in 2023, Ndoye has made 71 appearances and contributed 11 goals.
His career began at Lausanne-Sport before spells with Nice and Basel, where he played alongside Riccardo Calafiori, who is now at Arsenal.
Ndoye has been a regular for the Swiss national team since 2022, earning 22 caps and scoring three times.
He is renowned for his direct style, versatility across the front line, and ability to deliver in high-pressure matches.
Forest are also pursuing Fulham winger Adama Traore, with Nuno keen to reunite with the player he previously managed at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The 29-year-old made 53 Premier League appearances for Fulham, mostly as a substitute, scoring four goals since arriving on a free transfer in 2023.
Wide players are a central part of Forest’s approach, and Ndoye’s arrival would give the team pace, creativity, and an immediate attacking upgrade.
The move will be Forest’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Igor Jesus and Jair Cunha, and it signals their intent to compete strongly both domestically and in Europe this season.
