Chris Wood faces another spell on the sidelines with a knee problem after posting an update before Nottingham Forest’s meeting with Manchester City.
He had recently begun some on-grass rehabilitation. "At first, we thought it was a two to three week injury. We set targets, but it has not gone as expected," he told Nottinghamshire Live.
The New Zealand forward has been out since mid-October and shared a photo from a hospital bed, indicating a comeback is not close. He called it a very disappointing period, said he wants to return stronger to help in the Premier League and Europe, and thanked medical staff, team-mates and the NFFC family, signing off with a 2026 message.
He has yet to feature under Forest head coach Sean Dyche, with whom he previously worked at Bournemouth. Wood was at the City Ground today wearing a knee brace in support of his team-mates.
"There is no end date. It will be ready when it is ready. This has been one of the most difficult and most frustrating injuries."
"It is swelling of the bone," he added. "I have to make sure it is right, then I will be back to normal."
