Nunez ‘to accept’ pay cut to push Barcelona switch | OneFootball

Sport reports that Nunez could join Barcelona this summer, and is prepared to accept a significant pay cut to help a deal.

The Uruguayan forward moved to Al-Hilal from Liverpool last summer for €55 million. He struggled for a regular starting role, leaving an exit possible.

He is monitoring the market while pushing for terms that allow him to leave, the report adds. Al-Hilal want to recoup part of their outlay and are reluctant to terminate his contract, though a loan remains on the table if the right formula can be found.

This is not the first time Barcelona have been in the frame. In 2020, as an Almeria player, he was close to joining when Barcelona bid for 50% of his rights, but Benfica signed him for €33 million.

Barcelona still have Julian Alvarez as their preferred striker target. Nunez could become a realistic option if that pursuit stalls in the coming days.
