Nottingham Forest have announced the departure of manager Nuno Espírito Santo.

Nuno, who returned to the Premier League after a brief spell with Saudi side Al-Ittihad, revitalised Forest during his tenure, guiding the club to European qualification for the first time since 1996.

However, the club chose to part ways with him on Tuesday morning amid tensions behind the scenes.

Espírito Santo had opened up on his relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis, claiming it was no longer good but that he hoped to sit down with him and head of football Edu to work out their differences.

But the club have now instead opted to change their head coach.

“Nottingham Forest Football club confirms that, following recent circumstances, Nuno Espírito Santo has today been relieved of his duties as head coach,” the club said.

“The club thanks Nuno for his contribution during a very successful era at The City Ground, in particular his role in the 2024/25 season, which will forever be remembered fondly in the history of the club.

“As someone who played a pivotal role in our success last season, he will always hold a special place in our journey.”
