NYCFC vs Toronto FC: How to watch, time, and more of must-win match | OneFootball

This has probably been repeated multiple times over the last few weeks, but New York City FC has hit a bump in the road.  The Pigeons have struggled over the last month and have won once in their last five games.  In four of the five, they have scored one or no goals.  The issues with finding the back of the net have resurfaced, and unfortunately, there have been too many long periods where this has occurred over the last few seasons.

That is why this weekend’s road match against Toronto FC is critical for NYCFC.  The Boys in Blue cannot lose and cannot accept a draw; a win is necessary.  With a busy and difficult May on the horizon, winning would not only help the team but hopefully boost the players' confidence.  The attackers, excluding Alonso Martínez, could really use that boost.

Historically, playing in Toronto was never an easy task.  However, the Pigeons won on the road last year and will seek to make it back-to-back years beating the Reds away from home.  At the same time, the home side continues to struggle and sits in 14th place in the standings.  They finally won their first game of the season last week against Real Salt Lake, so there is a possibility that it could act as a spark.  Still, NYCFC is the better team on paper.

What do the Pigeons need to do to leave with all three points?  The answer should lie with two of their top games on both sides of the pitch.  They should capture the defensive work from the Columbus Crew draw and find the attack that scored three goals in the loss against Atlanta United FC.

Final Notes

NYCFC will play a rare afternoon match, and their last one at 2:30 PM.  The earlier start time and the lack of competition with other games might find other Major League Soccer fans watching the Eastern Conference battle.  Therefore, the Bronx team will especially want to put on a show to remind everyone they can play well.
