AmaZulu FC have announced the signings of Luyolo Slatsha and Gustavo Lopes ahead of the second round of the 2025/26 campaign.
The 23-year-old central midfielder was roped in from Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit Cape Town City.
Reflecting on his move, Slatsha says he is ready to make an impact in the South African topflight and is confident that his new team can stage a respectable campaign.
“It's been a very welcoming environment so far. It's an open space where the relationship between the coaches and players is very good. Communication is open, direct, accountable, and demanding in terms of the standards required to compete in the league,” he told the club's media department.
"There's a strong balance in the squad - experienced, big-name players alongside exciting young talent. I believe this group can produce something special. My focus right now is to establish myself within the team, and from there, further aspirations will follow as things go.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian anchor man, who can also operate as a centre-back, joins the KwaZulu-Natal club as a free agent.
Lopes was last in the books of Mozambican outfit Clube Ferroviario da Beira, before the two parties parted ways.
“South African football comes with a lot of pressure, and is widely followed beyond the country's borders. It's good, well-played football, and that is clear to see,” noted the 25-year-old South American.
"I've been very well received since arriving and have seen first-hand how organized the club is. The structure here is strong and professional, and I believe this is a club capable of achieving something significant.
The new acquisitions join highly rated Zimbabwean midfielder Mason Mushore, who was also snapped up in the current window from Highlanders FC in his native country.
