Han-Noah Massengo’s transfer from Burnley to FC Augsburg was officially confirmed Tuesday. The 24-year-old moves to the Bundesliga permanently on a €3m transfer. Masengo’s new contract in Germany’s Fugggerstadt runs through 2030.
Massengo – long touted as a direct replacement for returned Brentford loanee Frank Onyeka – does face a competitive situation in the FCA midfield. It might nevertheless that Massengo ends up serving alongside fellow new Augsburg arrival Robin Fellhauer in a double-six set-up.
In any event, the Bavarian Swabians declared themselves pleased to welcome a player, in managing director Michael Ströll’s words, that lends the squad “more depth and versatility“.
“We’ve signed a highly interesting and very dynamic midfielder,” Ströll noted in a club statement. “Despite being only 24-years-old, he already has a wealth of experience and great potential for development. We look forward to a successful future together.“
”I am delighted to be part of this great club,” Massengo himself added. “In recent years, FCA has shown that players can develop excellently here. The Bundesliga has great appeal. I’m looking forward to getting to know the stadium and the fans.“
