FC Barcelona take on Deportivo Alaves in their latest fixture of the ongoing La Liga season. After having dropped points to CA Osasuna at El Sadar, the Catalan giants managed to bounce back against BSC Young Boys in the Champions League. Now, however, Barcelona have a chance to win some crucial points in the league.

Away from home once again, La Blaugrana will be expected to win this game knowing full well what the repercussions could be if they don’t. With Real Madrid now level on points with them, this is Barça’s opportunity to get their three point lead back.

That is why, as Hansi Flick already hinted during his pre-match press conference, Barcelona have decided to field a strong starting eleven for this game. They seem to have learned from their previous mistake against Osasuna, and that is reflected in the official starting eleven that has now been released.

In goal, Inaki Pena remains the starter for Barcelona. After his clean sheet against BSC Young Boys, the Spanish goalkeeper will be hoping to keep another consecutive clean sheet this time around. With Wojciech Szczesny now also registered, it would make sense for Pena to be even more on alert now.

The central defenders ahead of him will be Inigo Martinez and Pau Cubarsi. Barça’s most reliable defensive pairing this season so far, it does not come as a surprise to see them start together knowing how important this game is.

On either side of them, the reliable Hector Fort and electric Alejandro Balde start. They will be important to help Barcelona from the flanks as much as possible.

The midfield sees both Marc Casado and Pedri start together. They will be hoping to help the team by defending as a unit and also by helping to initiate their attacks as much as possible throughout the game.

Ahead of them, Raphinha starts as the main attacking midfielder. Alongside him, Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres are the primary forwards who will be adding width to the team and also looking to combine their creativity and offensive danger to hurt Alaves.

Lastly, upfront, Robert Lewandowski will be the man leading the charge for Barcelona. His goalscoring will be crucial, and it has been pretty solid so far this season so more goals are to naturally be expected of him.
