Official: Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmati wins the 2025 Women’s Ballon d’Or | OneFootball

A special player, a special achievement – Barcelona Femeni superstar Aitana Bonmati has won the 2025 Women’s Ballon d’Or – winning it for a third year in a row to complete a hat-trick.

Aitana had won the Women’s Ballon d’Or in 2023 and 2024, and has done a three-peat, beating the likes of Mariona Caldentey, Alessia Russo, and Alexia Putellas, who finished fourth, to the honour.

The 2024/25 season was once again a successful one for Barça Femeni as they won the Liga F, the Copa de la Reina, and the Spanish Super Copa, with Aitana at the centre of the success.

Aitana missed out on the Women’s Champions League, while her Spain team also stumbled in the finals of the Euros during the summer.

But, her overall achievements during the season have been enough for the Barcelona icon to pick up her third Ballon d’Or in a row.

“Third time here in a row, I don’t know what to say anymore, the Theatre is so impressive. Thank you to France Football for giving me the award that could have easily gone to any of you. If I could share it, I would,” said Aitana.

“Receiving it from Andres Iniesta, one of my idols. I’ve learned from them; my football is partly thanks to that. Thank you to the organization for improving and improving every year. I think this year is the first time we have the same awards as the men’s team, and I’m grateful.”

“To Barça, my club, Joan Laporta, the board, teammates, staff… We didn’t achieve this alone; it’s thanks to a huge collective, fourteen years at the club of my life, and I hope to enjoy this badge and wear it for many more years.”

Concluding, Aitana said: “I don’t want to forget my fans. I never forget where I come from. Thank you for being here, to the people back home, my parents, family, friends from Ribes, and to all the people who work so that I can become a better player every day.”
