Official Conference League draw | Mainz to play Sigma Olomouc in the round of 16 | OneFootball

Following the conclusion of the Conference League round of 16 draw, Mainz have found out who they will play in the next round. 

Mainz received a bye into the next round after they finished in the top eight of the Conference League league phase back in December. 

In the round of 16, Mainz will play Sigma Olomouc of Czechia. Sigma qualified for the round of 16 after beating Lausanne 3-2 on aggregate in the playoff round. 

If Mainz progresses to the quarter-finals, they will face either Rijeka or Strasbourg. 

This will be Urs Fischer’s first exploits in the knockout rounds of the UECL, as his previous spell in the tournament saw Union Berlin eliminated in the group stages of the inaugural competition. While in his sole season in the Europa League with Die Eiserner, they reached the round of 16 before losing to Union-Saint Gilloise.
