Official: Eagle Football remove former Lyon president John Textor | OneFootball

Eagle Football Holdings Bidco said in a legal statement that John Charles Textor has been ousted from the vehicle that holds the shares and legal rights in its multi-club ownership structure, which includes Olympique Lyonnais, with his contract as director terminated on 27 January 2026.

On that day, Textor attempted to overthrow his successor, Lyon president Michele Kang, at the group's general board meeting and regain control of Eagle Football Group. He sought to remove two independent directors but failed. Afterwards, Lyon's creditor, Ares Management, informed him of his immediate removal.

With Textor no longer in charge, Lyon are back in the green on and off the pitch.

The club's transfer restrictions have been lifted.

Paulo Fonseca's OL are currently third in the Ligue 1 table.
