Official: Eight Barcelona stars named in the Spain squad for 2026 FIFA World Cup | OneFootball

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup just a couple of weeks away, Spain manager Luis de la Fuente has finally announced the 26-man final squad list for the tournament.

And, as was expected, there is a large contingent of FC Barcelona players on the roster that will travel to North America for the big tournament next month.

Indeed, as many as eight Barcelona stars have been called up by De la Fuente, starting with goalkeeper Joan Garcia, who won the La Liga’s Zamora Trophy in his debut season with the club.

Meanwhile, Pau Cubarsi, who has been one of the best young defenders in Europe over the season, also earns a place in the squad and is likely to be a starter at the World Cup for La Roja.

He is joined by versatile star Eric Garcia, who enjoyed an exceptional season and can fill in at right-back, centre-back, and defensive midfield.

Moving to the midfield department, Pedri is included along with Gavi, who made a late surge for a spot with strong performances after returning from a long-term injury in March.

Dani Olmo also gets the nod and is expected to play a critical role in Spain’s campaign in North America. Fellow attacking midfielder, Fermin Lopez, however misses out with injury.

In attack, Ferran Torres is a shoo-in, given he is a trusted player of De la Fuente. He is joined by teenage superstar Lamine Yamal, who is currently recovering from a hamstring injury and is expected to be fit only in time for Spain’s third group game.

Alejandro Balde has failed to make the cut for the squad, with De la Fuente sticking with the former La Masia duo of Marc Cucurella and Alejandro Grimaldo at left-back.

Ansu Fati, who enjoyed a fine season on loan at AS Monaco, does not feature either, along with Marc Casado and Marc Bernal.
