Official Europa League draw | VfB Stuttgart to face Porto and Freiburg drawn against Genk in round of 16 | OneFootball

VfB Stuttgart and Freiburg have found out who their opponents will be in the Europa League round of 16 draw. 

Freiburg will play Genk, who beat Dinamo Zagreb in the playoff round. While Stuttgart have been drawn against Porto, who finished fifth in the league phase. 

The Breisgauer qualified for the round of 16 after they finished in the top eight in the league phase, meaning they received a bye to the next round. While Stuttgart progressed after beating Celtic 4-2 on aggregate to qualify for the next round on Thursday evening.

As Julian Schuster’s side finished in the top eight, they will play the second leg of the round of 16 at home, while Stuttgart’s games are reversed. 

If Freiburg progress, they will face either Celta Vigo or Lyon in the next round, while Stuttgart’s quarter-final opponents could be Nottingham Forest or Midtjylland.

The round of 16 first legs will be played on the 12th of March, and the second legs will take place a week later on the 19th.
