Holstein Kiel have announced that they have parted ways with head coach Marcel Rapp, with the club currently 14th in the second division.
Rapp took charge of Kiel in 2021, replacing Ole Werner. During his time in the North of Germany, he was able to lead them into the Bundesliga for the first time in their history, where the club finished 17th but had notable results against Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
However, since returning to the 2.Bundesliga, it has not been easy going, and despite being 14th in the table, Die Störche are only two points clear of the relegation places.
Sky Germany reports that Kiel’s search for Rapp’s replacement is already well underway, and the leading candidate for the role is Tim Walter.
The club in the North of Germany was Walter’s first senior role as a head coach back in 2018. He would spend one year at the Holstein Stadion before moving to VfB Stuttgart. The 50-year-old has been without a job since being sacked as Hull City manager at the end of 2024.
