Official: João Félix departs Atlético Madrid for Chelsea | OneFootball

La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have on Wednesday announced a big-name departure from the club’s first-team squad.

And the identity of the individual in question will come as little surprise, in the form of João Félix.

The name of frontman Félix has of course dominated the headlines across Spain and England alike over the course of the last week.

This comes after word was forthcoming that Premier League heavyweights Chelsea, after pulling the plug on their move for Atléti starlet Samu Omorodion, had shifted attentions towards the Portuguese.

Negotiations over the terms of a transfer, in turn, were quickly kicked into gear, with Félix not part of the plans of head coach Diego Simeone.

And, as alluded to above, on Wednesday, such talks have officially borne fruit.

As per a statement across the Rojiblancos’ official website and social media platforms:

‘Atlético de Madrid and Chelsea have reached an agreement for the sale of João Félix to the English side. He is returning to Chelsea, this time on a permanent deal.

‘On behalf of Atlético de Madrid, we would like to wish João Félix the best of luck in his future career.’
