Kevin Vogt has decided to mutually terminate his contract with VfL Bochum at the end of the season due to health and injury-related reasons.

This unfortunate outcome will also mark the end of the central defender's active career as a professional footballer, the club confirmed.

Vogt, a Bochum native, arrived at Castroper Straße as a youth player in 2004 and made his Bundesliga debut for Bochum five years later.

Across various age groups from youth to senior level, Vogt made over 100 appearances for the Ruhrpott club currently in the 2.Bundesliga.

“This decision is incredibly difficult for me. Football has been my life for as long as I can remember. VfL Bochum has always been something special.

"I grew up here, I was able to become a professional here, and I was able to come home here at the end of my career.

"But my body has clearly shown me in recent months that things can no longer continue as I wish. I am grateful for everything I have experienced

“For the clubs, my teammates, coaches, fans, and above all, for VfL Bochum. This club will always remain a part of me,” Vogt said.

Vogt also spent time with other topflight sides, playing for FC Augsburg, 1.FC Köln, TSG Hoffenheim, Werder Bremen, and 1.FC Union Berlin.

In total, Kevin Vogt played over 300 Bundesliga games, even playing in the Champions League during his time at Union Berlin.
