Lille striker Hamza Igamane (23) has unfortunately sustained an ACL injury during Morocco’s loss in the controversial AFCON final against Senegal on Sunday at Rabat. Igamane was introduced late on in extra-time, but he had to pull out only six minutes after injuring himself following a contact with Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy. Igamane’s injury meant that Morocco spent the remainder of extra-time with a player short, considering that Morocco manager Walid Regragui used all his subs.

Lille’s worst fears regarding the extent of Igamane’s injury have unfortunately been confirmed. The former Glasgow Rangers FC has torn the ACL in his right knee. He is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, and his dreams to take part in the World Cup with Morocco appear in tatters. Lille play Celta Vigo away in the Europa League on Thursday.
