Real Madrid will kick off their UEFA Champions League campaign tonight when they face Olympique de Marseille at the Santiago Bernabeu.
With the game set to get underway in a little over an hour, manager Xabi Alonso has announced the starting lineup that will take the field against Roberto De Zerbi’s men.
And the biggest news is that superstar Vinicius Jr. has been dropped from the lineup for the second match this season, after being benched in the La Liga game against Real Oviedo.
Taking his place in the team is fellow Brazilian Rodrygo Goes, who slots in on the left flank while Kylian Mbappe starts as the striker.
There is a change on the right flank as well, with Franco Mastantuono replacing Brahim Diaz to make his Champions League debut.
Federico Valverde returns in midfield, where he will be partnered by the key duo of Aurelien Tchouameni and Arda Guler.
Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga could make their first appearance of the season later on, having returned to the squad after recovering from their fitness issues.
Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold replaces Dani Carvajal at right-back and the rest of the backline remains intact with Eder Militao, Dean Huijsen, and Alvaro Carreras shielding Thibaut Courtois’ goal.
