Rennes have signed Angers SCO striker Estéban Lepaul (25), both clubs have announced. The 25-year-old has signed a four-year deal with Les Rouge et Noir. Rennes have reportedly agreed to a €15m transfer package with Angers for the latter to part ways with their danger-man. Lepaul’s stock skyrocketed last season after netting 13 goals in all competitions for his first full season with Angers. He will now wear Rennes’ No.9 jersey, which was left vacant following Arnaud Kalimuendo’s transfer to Nottingham Forest.

With Angers, Lepaul featured 50 times and logged 17 goals and three assists. He is set to make a swift return at Stade Raymond-Kopa, given Rennes will lock horns with Alexandre Dujeux’s Angers side this Sunday. “I feel like I’m taking an important step in my career. I know the coach’s ideas about the game, and I think this is a project in which I can thrive.“, said the former OL Academy graduate. Lepaul is the fifth summer signing for Rennes after Valentin Rongier, Quentin Merlin, Przemyslaw Frankowski and Mahdi Camara.
