The 2025 Ballon d’Or gala in Paris is in full swing, and the rankings are unfolding slowly, as the committee draws the curtain.

Heading into the gala, four Barcelona players were nominated in the list of top 30 candidates, among whom three have already qualified for the top ten.

The players in question are Pedri and the two Ballon d’Or favourites, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal. The list is completed by Robert Lewandowski, who did not qualify inside the top ten.

Robert Lewandowski finishes 17th

In fact, Ballon d’Or has announced the final ranking of Lewandowski, who finishes in 17th spot despite enjoying his best season as a Barcelona player last term.

Indeed, the Polish forward was a key factor in Barcelona’s success last season, as he scored 27 league goals in just 34 matches.

The veteran also scored 11 goals in the UEFA Champions League, helping the Catalans reach the semifinals.

Despite his impressive numbers, the Pole has finished behind Vinicius Jr., who endured a poor season at the Bernabeu last term and yet finished 16th in the rankings. He has also finished behind PSG’s rising star, Desire Doue, who occupied the 14th spot.

On the flip side, Lewandowski has ranked ahead of Erling Haaland, which is quite interesting given the age difference between the two players.

The Barcelona striker also finishes ahead of Jude Bellingham, Serhou Guirassy and Lautaro Martinez.

This is perhaps the last time Lewandowski will make the Ballon d’Or list, unless he can replicate or even improve upon his numbers from last season.

The forward, though, has endured a relatively slow start to the campaign, with Barcelona coach Hansi Flick notably preferring Ferran Torres ahead of him multiple times this season.
