La Liga outfit Sevilla have on Tuesday announced the departure of an important figure in the club’s boardroom.

The individual in question? Antonio Cordón.

Cordón for his part only linked up with Sevilla last summer, taking over as the club’s new Director of Football.

The Spaniard has since come in for heavy criticism on the part of the Nervionenses’ fanbase, after Sevilla’s season-long battle against relegation to the 2nd tier of Spanish football.

On top of as much, Cordón is understood to have endured a rocky relationship with his fellow board members at The Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium.

And as alluded to above, early this week, such friction has given rise to a swift exit for the 62-year-old.

As per a statement across Sevilla’s website and social media platforms:

‘Sevilla FC and Antonio Cordón have mutually agreed to terminate the employment relationship of the club’s Director of Football. Both parties have agreed to end his contract after the 2025/26 season, which concluded with the team securing its place in La Liga. The agreement will take effect on May 31, at the close of the current La Liga season.’
