La Liga outfit Sevilla have on Monday unveiled the newest installation on the club’s bench.
The tactician chosen to lead the Andalusian outfit into a new era? Matías Almeyda.
The name of Argentine Almeyda had proven an increasingly prominent one in the media headlines in Seville over the course of the last week.
This came after word was forthcoming that, amid struggles in efforts to land their more high-profile managerial targets, the 51-year-old had emerged as the new frontrunner for the job.
And as alluded to above, such media claims, on Monday, have proven themselves to be accurate.
This comes with Sevilla having officially announced Almeyda as their new first-team head coach.
As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of the Nervionenses:
‘Sevilla FC has reached an agreement with Matías Almeyda for the Argentine coach to be the new Blanquirrojos coach for the next three seasons, starting in July.’
Almedya for his part most recently took charge of Greek giants AEK Athens, with whom he secured a league and cup title across three seasons.
