Luca Sirch completed his move to SV Elversberg as a free agent on Tuesday. The 27-year-old has never played beyond Regionalliga before the 2024/25 season, but two solid 2. Bundesliga campaigns with Kaiserslautern presented an opportunity to play in the Bundesliga for him.

Sirch played 60 2. Bundesliga games as Torsten Lieberknecht’s side flirted with a Bundesliga promotion in the past couple of seasons. Elversberg were one of their competitors, and they eventually won their first-ever promotion to Germany’s top-flight.

The Elves signed wingers Maurice Krattenmacher and Cole Campbell from FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund, respectively, at the start of the transfer window before turning their attention to reinforcing the defense. Sirch signed a three-year contract at the club that will keep him in Kaiserlinde until 2029.

“By committing to Luca Sirch, we have managed to increase the flexibility and variation possibilities within our squad with a very versatile player. With his dynamics and his good right foot, he brings in elements that will enrich our game.” said Elversberg’s sporting director Christian Weber. The Augsburg-native was directly involved in 13 goals in the last two seasons with Kaiserslautern.

“The past two years have given me a very good impression of Elversberg. The team stands for cohesion, energy and a clear idea on the pitch. I look forward to being part of this team now, getting involved and working together on our goals.” said Sirch in his first interview with the club’s website.

Meanwhile, Elversberg mutually agreed on the contract termination of Carlo Sickinger as the defensive midfielder joined 2. Bundesliga side Darmstadt.
