Tottenham have announced the signing of Lens centre-back Kevin Danso (26). The Spurs have successfully hijacked Wolves’ pursuit of the Austrian international centre-back. Rennes were also interested in acquiring Danso. Danso has joined the North London-based Premier League side on loan until the end of the season, with a €25m obligation to make the deal permanent in the summer. Danso will wear the No. 4 jersey with Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs.
Danso had been close to an exit from Lens in the summer when the Artois side reached an agreement with AS Roma. However, he failed his medical with the Serie A side and has therefore spent the past six months under the tutelage of Will Still. Danso will make his return to England after spending the 2019-2020 season on loan at Southampton. Danso is the second Lens centre-back to leave this winter to pursue his career in the Premier League as Abdukodir Khusanov joined Manchester City in a €50m deal.
