Oliver Glasner revealed Marc Guehi is close to leaving and that he will exit in the summer. According to NY Times, the captain is nearing a move to Manchester City.

He said Guehi would not travel to Sunderland as the transfer nears completion. Glasner added his decision had been made months ago and communicated to chairman Steve Parish.

The club’s website carried only an injury update. Players and staff were told before training, and the squad soon left for the North East.

He spoke after learning of Guehi’s likely exit, noting he had first informed Parish during the October international break. A nine-game winless run and an FA Cup loss to non-League Macclesfield have deepened the gloom.

He has long urged progress in every area and previously left Eintracht Frankfurt when ambitions diverged. Palace’s summer window disappointed him and exposed misunderstandings around recruitment limits.

Both developments leave Palace short on time in January, with replacing Guehi before the deadline unlikely. The uncertainty also complicates recruitment, even if players do not join only for a manager.

A pivotal summer awaits, with a successor to find and recruitment in flux after Dougie Freedman’s exit. Glasner has delivered a first major trophy, European football and the Community Shield.

He says he remains focused on the Conference League and a club-best Premier League points tally. Palace have drawn HSK Zrinjski Mostar, while record signing Brennan Johnson, the impending returns of Daichi Kamada, Daniel Munoz and Ismaila Sarr, and stadium redevelopment offer some optimism.
