Newcastle are now set to sign Oliver Goodbrand.

This exclusive coming from Craig Hope at The Mail.

He says his information is that the highly rated Rangers teenager is now due due on Tyneside for his medical.

The exclusive saying that Newcastle United have successfully signed the 16 year old from Rangers despite interest from a number of clubs, including some from overseas.

Oliver Goodbrand is set to initially go into the Newcastle United Academy set-up next season.

This imminent signing was first reported (see below) back in April 2025, when here on The Mag we detailed what the media were saying up in Glasgow.

Whilst there won’t be a transfer fee, there is expected to be development compensation to be paid to Rangers by Newcastle United.

The left-back set to reject professional terms at Glasgow Rangers and instead commit himself to Newcastle United.

The Daily Record are the ones with the exclusive and they say that their information is that; ‘Newcastle United are closing in on a deal for Rangers’ rising star Oliver Goodbrand.’

The exclusive saying that their information is that whilst the 16 year old can sign professional forms with Rangers this season, they understand that instead he will choose Newcastle.

Development compensation would be due to Rangers if Newcastle United were to sign the highly regarded teenage defender.

The Daily Record report that  Oliver Goodbrand is; ‘Highly-rated at Rangers and also got B team action last season when he was just 15.’

Unlike under Mike Ashley when the academy was starved of resources, Newcastle United are now investing throughout the club, with special focus on the potential stars of the future.
