Olivier Létang has been suspended from official duties on Lille matchdays until 31 March after his outburst over refereeing.

The disciplinary commission said in a statement that the sanction is firm before, during and after matches, covering access to the bench, officials’ dressing rooms and any official function.

The Lille president was angered when referee Éric Wattellier sent off centre-back Alexsandro in the 13th minute against Rennes early January. He later described the decision as a disgrace and a scandal.

Head coach Bruno Genesio was also given a one-match ban plus a further match suspended for his behaviour that night. He refused to take part in post-match media duties, and at half-time had to be held back by several players as he moved towards the referee.

Until 15 February 2026 inclusive, the suspension carries a separate prohibition, before, during and after games, on access to the players’ dressing room, the pitch, the tunnel and the corridors leading to those areas.

The punishment takes effect from Tuesday 20 January 2026, which means Létang can still attend Paris Saint-Germain v Lille on Friday at 21:00 at the Parc des Princes, part of Ligue 1’s 18th round.
