Olympic Athletes’ Day on 23 June marks those who carried their countries’ colours at the Games. According to Meu Timao, Corinthians count 15 Olympic medallists across football, swimming and basketball.

The roll grew at Paris 2024, where the Brazil women's team won silver after defeat to the United States in the final. Six Corinthians players were involved, Tamires, who was ruled out during the tournament through injury, plus Yasmim, Yaya, Duda Sampaio, Jheniffer and Gabi Portilho.

Before them, swimmer Thiago Pereira was the club’s most recent Olympic medallist. At London 2012 he took silver in the 400 metres medley, finishing ahead of American great Michael Phelps.

Football had already delivered podium finishes. In Beijing 2008, right-back Fabi Simões won silver with Brazil’s women. At Atlanta 1996, Zé Elias and Marcelinho Paulista claimed bronze.

In the men’s game, forward João Paulo took silver with Brazil at Seoul 1988. Four years earlier, Ronaldo Moraes also finished second in Los Angeles 1984.

Basketball also put Corinthians athletes among Olympic medallists. In Tokyo 1964, Wlamir Marques, Ubiratan and Edvar Simões helped Brazil claim bronze.
