Amiens have parted company with head coach Omar Daf a day before a pivotal Ligue 2 trip to Boulogne-sur-Mer at 20:00. Bayonne manager Alain Pochat should step in.

According to L'Équipe, Daf was told around 19:00 on Wednesday by vice-president Christophe Duprez that he was being relieved of his duties. He had arrived at 9:00 for training and a pre-match press conference. The club thanked him in a statement on Thursday morning.

He took charge for the last time in Monday's 0-2 home defeat to leaders Troyes. That result is said to have shifted thinking, with Daf, appointed in summer 2023 and under contract until 2027, no longer certain to see out the season. President Bernard Joannin did not visit the dressing room and left the Stade de la Licorne quickly that night.

The decision was made the next day during a budget meeting with Duprez and recruitment chief John Williams. Relations between Daf and Williams were described as extremely tense. The timing surprised many locally and neither Joannin nor Daf responded on Thursday.

Assistants Julien Ielsch and Serge Costa are set to lead the team tonight at the Stade de la Libération. Academy director Patrice Descamps declined to step in for one game. Amiens sit in the relegation play-off place, four points behind Boulogne, 14th, and Nancy, 15th, and club officials are understood to have already met Pochat, who should arrive quickly in Picardy.
