Erling Haaland’s mammoth contract extension has dominated the headlines today. That is understandable given Haaland’s stature in the game and his standing at Manchester City. But in the background, Omar Marmoush has said goodbye to Eintracht Frankfurt and their fans. The Etihad now awaits the Egyptian international as City are now poised to complete a move for the dynamic frontman.
Eintracht Frankfurt beat Borussia Dortmund tonight 2-nil. That was an expected result based on the two teams standing in the Bundesliga table this season. But the big news from a Manchester City point of view was that Omar Marmoush wasn’t included in Eintracht Frankfurt’s squad for tonight’s match. The Bundesliga side put out a statement before the match as to why Marmoush was left out of their squad tonight. It can be seen below.
Following his team’s win over Borussia Dortmund Omar Marmoush said goodbye to the Eintracht Frankfurt fans. It was a special moment for the Egyptian international. His goals and assists have been crucial to Eintracht Frankfurt so far this season. It’s those strong performances that have seen him play his way to Manchester City. Fabrizio Romano has reported that the deal that sees Marmoush sign for City will be worth €80 million plus add-ons.
But the exciting news is that Omar Marmoush is almost finally on his way to Manchester City. There are still the formalities of a medical to come before his move to the Etihad is complete. But he has now said goodbye to Eintracht Frankfurt. The next chapter of Marmoush’s career awaits and that will be as a Manchester City player. Based on his displays for the Bundesliga side this season the Egyptian international will add what City’s attack has lacked at times this season. It is now just a waiting game until the move is made official. But that appears to be a formality based on tonight’s scenes.
