A solitary member of Hansi Flick’s Barcelona squad has been named amongst the candidates for a place in the latest FIFPRO World XI.
The player in question? Lamine Yamal.
Wide-man Lamine is for his part of course fresh off a breakout 12 months, which have seen the starlet go from relative unknown to one of the most recognisable faces in the game.
The 17-year-old is now considered one of the first names on the team sheet of Barcelona boss Flick, with the Blaugrana’s recent woes in his absence a testament to Lamine’s growing importance.
Not only that, but he is a starter at international level, too, having played a leading role for Spain en route to glory at Euro 2024 over the summer.
In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear of the explosive winger being put forward for a place in this year’s FIFPRO World XI.
Whilst Lamine is the sole Barcelona representative, the shortlist is packed with Real Madrid stars, namely Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rüdiger, Jude Bellingham, Luka Modrić, Federico Valverde, Vinícius Jr, and Kylian Mbappé.
