Chelsea got a long awaited win yesterday afternoon against Leeds, showing much improved performances all around compared to the dire showings of recent weeks.

A glance at the stats shows that the team almost universally performed really well. Robert Sanchez made some crucial saves, the defence kept Leeds at bay, Enzo Fernandez and co. were tenacious in the middle and Joao Pedro did a great job holding the ball up.

Garnacho can’t match his teammates in raising his game

But there was one player who was unable to join the team in seeing his form improve. Alejandro Garnacho had yet another stinker out on the left wing.

FotMob had him as a 6.6 rating, while every other teammate but one was in the 7s and 8s.

Once again he had a frustrating game failing to create anything in attack, and he was also less focused in defence that most of his colleagues.

With Estevao and Jamie Gittens out injured, Calum McFarlane doesn’t have many other options out there on the left. But Garnacho is playing so poorly that drastic measures may be needed.

In other news…

Trevoh Chalobah tried to explain how this team had suddenly raised their level so significantly after a horrible run of defeat.

Chelsea’s domestic cup record has been a disaster for almost a decade now – a win in the FA Cup final would change all that.
