There is an opportunity for a host of the squad players at Manchester City to make an impression tonight. City take on Brentford at the Etihad in the quarter-final stage of the Carabao Cup. One of those players who needs to put in a good performance tonight is Oscar Bobb. The young winger has barely featured for City of late and you do sense that he needs to make an impact tonight for his own confidence.
The last time Oscar Bobb played for Manchester City was in their 2-nil defeat to Bayer Leverkusen at the Etihad Stadium towards the end of November. Bobb started against the Bundesliga side but put in a disappointing display before he was substituted at halftime. Since that night at the Etihad, Bobb hasn’t played a minute for Pep Guardiola’s side. He wasn’t included in the Manchester City squad for their wins over Fulham and Leeds United. Bobb has fallen down the pecking order at City recently a good performance tonight against Brentford should help him begin to play his way back into contention at City.
Oscar Bobb has the talent to be a regular contributor in Pep Guardiola’s squad. The problem is that as of right now, Bobb lacks decisiveness in the final third with his decision-making. Too often Bobb gets into good positions but his end product isn’t up to standard or dwells on the ball for too long. If Bobb can put everything together in regards to his decision-making and decisiveness, coupled with his talent, Bobb has everything necessary to be an important player at the club. The hope is that Oscar Bobb can begin that process tonight against Brentford. A good performance tonight could kick-start Bobb’s season and provide him with the confidence boost he needs to kick on as a player.

Oscar Bobb needs a good performance tonight provided that he starts against Brentford. He isn’t playing for his Manchester City career, that isn’t the issue that Bobb is facing. He simply needs a good performance for his confidence and to show Pep Guardiola that he can be an important player for his team this season. So far this season Bobb has only shown snippets of his quality as a player. He needs to become more consistent as a player and show more decisiveness in the final third. Hopefully Bobb can do exactly that tonight against Brentford.
